Barbara S. Hancock, Esq.

BARBARA S. HANCOCK is Of Counsel to the law firm of Jones Wilcenski & Pleat PLLC, where she practices in the areas of:

- Trust, Estate and Tax Planning, and
- Elder Law and Long Term Care Planning.

Barbara is a magna cum laude graduate of Albany Law School, and a cum laude graduate of Radcliffe College. Barbara is also an adjunct professor at Albany Law School, where she teaches Elder Law and Financial Planning for the Elderly, and an associate attorney for the New York State Law Revision Commission.

In 2001, Barbara was admitted to the New York State Bar (all courts) and the U.S. Federal District Court.

Barbara is the author or co-author of five articles published in legal periodicals in 2004, two on the impact of the HIPAA privacy rule on planning for incapacity, two analyzing new federal rules pertaining to retirement accounts, and one outlining proposed changes to New York’s power of attorney law. She is also co-author of the Elder Law course materials for Albany Law School. Before attending law school, Barbara ran a nonprofit contemporary art gallery in upstate New York, and spent two years in France as resident director of an international artists’ retreat.
